Barley, a cereal very close to wheat, is known since 4 000 years. Common Barley (Horeum vulagare) is a straw cereal. It is therefore an annual herbaceous plant of the poacea family. It is the oldest cereal grown. In acient times, barley was the staple food of teh Greeks. Barley was estimated more than wheat. They made porridge, bread, patties called "maza" and beer.

Tips for use
These barley flakes have been pre-cooked using a steaming method and can be consumed as they are. They can also be cooked for 10 minutes and garnished to taste. Barley flakes can be sprinkled on your breakfast cereal or eaten with milk or yoghurt. You can also use the flakes to create numerous sweet or savoury dishes, including vegetable terrines, veggie burgers, bread, purée, porridge and cake. Keep in a cool, dry and dark place.
